Battling the stormy waters of life

"Mightier than the thunder of the great waters; mightier than the breakers of the sea the Lord on high is mighty!"
Psalm 93:4

The are so many verses that fit for a time of need, desperation, broken hearted, troubled, or just struggling to keep your head above water. Let's just have an honest moment here before we go any further, though contrary to what the picture is painted to be by people when you pray and read your bible during those moments it's still really hard. It does not make you a bad Christian to hurt. It does not mean you love God any less or that God loves you any less. It means that you are hurting. You can now let out a sigh of relief, because it's a pretty picture that is not reality. The reality is that we are human and we can't just switch off our hurt like a light switch turning off the light. It takes time to get over pain there is no spoon full of sugar that magically takes it away. You aren't praying the wrong prayers or reading the wrong scriptures it just takes time.

Let's face it life is hard, and even though some would like to blame it all on Eve let's have another honest moment and admit that someone else would have messed it up eventually because we are all human. We're flawed, we sin, and we need grace daily. Life is just one big-o-roller coaster ride filled with ups, downs, flips, twists, and turns. To us tomorrow is a mystery but take heart in knowing that to God our tomorrow is but a memory.

If our God can shut the mouths of lions, part a raging sea, paint beautiful rainbow promises in the sky, form the mighty mountains and billions of stars, well then surely he can concur the big waves that are crashing around in your life. "Do not fear for I am with you"-Isaiah 41:10.

Our God proved through David and Goliath that He is a giant slayer and He will slay the Giants we encounter in this life.
